Well, give me a penny doubled, this book was a great read!
Benji and Felix should have never been field trip partners, but they are and their lives are never the same. They find a wallet that belongs to a billionaire. They return it—but not without using the $20 bill in the wallet to buy themselves lunch. After all, a billionaire isn’t going to miss $20.
Alas, this billionaire does. Then she offers the boys a challenge and the fun begins.
The alternating point of view of the main characters made MILLIONAIRES FOR THE MONTH super engaging. I felt like I was in the challenge to spend $5.3 million with them. It also left room for me to wonder how I would spend all the money without accumulating assets or telling anyone. A tough task indeed.
Stacy McAnulty has a keen sense for introducing math (and, in this case, finance) concepts into her books without it feeling like a lesson, which makes me a big fan! (Extra bonus points for all the Broadway star references!)
I like to read some of the same books as my kids so we can talk about them (and they get a kick out of seeing me read something they recommend). Some of their books are less than interesting to anyone over the age of 15, but I highly recommend this book for kids and adults alike. It will lead to some interesting conversations and chance to see how their brain works!
